Joost> Jean-Marc, can you please say which option you prefer?

The reason why I did not give my opinion is that I do not know what we
shall do :(

First of all, adding a pdfview as viewer should only be done when
there is an actual PDF viewer installed on the system. Are we going to
play again the game of detecting whether acroread is installed
checking for pdfview? That looks a bit silly.

Second, the problem of indicating that a lyxrc.defaults entry should
not be overridden by auto settings. The syntax conventions of using
"!foo" and "noauto foo" seem equally ugly to me... As Georg pointed
out, a viewer flag would be the best solution but this changes the
syntax.

What would be the best solution is definitely to have the installer
set pdfview as PDF handler. There is reason to think that LyX is be the
only one which suffers from this *&$^%&^^$!*# braindead Acrobat thing.

So, if we come back to pdfview (BTW, very bad name, google finds a lot
of different ones). How is it implemented? Is it a script or a
program? Where does it comes from? Does it work only with Acrobat?

JMarc
