Sounds good to me. Lars talks about compression might not work with
this, but if you can handle that, we have a plan:
First step: (Georg volunteered :-)
- Write UCS4 streams which are converted to UTF-8 by magic
- So the LaTeX file is in UTF-8 encoding
Next steps:
- Fix compression problems
- If there are problems with LaTeX support for UTF-8, we will work to
fix that in LaTeX camp (or use workaround hacks in LyX)
- If you need a LaTeX file in something else than UTF-8, then use an
external converter (which LyX can automatically invoke)
