Hello,
I'd like to solve the long-standing issues related to the LyX
translations on Windows.
On Windows, the WINDOWS-1252 encoding (compatible with ISO-8859-1)
should be used for languages like English, French and German,
WINDOWS-1250 for Central European languages like Czech, Polish and
Slovak, WINDOWS-1251 for Russian and WINDOWS-1254 (compatible with
ISO 8859-9) for Turkish.
However gettext seems to convert everything to ISO-8859-1, so many
languages are not displayed correctly. I tried to set OUTPUT_CHARSET to
the correct encoding, but that doesn't make any difference.
Does anyone know how to get gettext to convert the translations to the
correct output encoding on Windows?
Regards,
Joost
