I have trouble for years for requesting even the most simple programs in machines that I did not control. And similar horror stories... :-(

And why do you reckon it would be easier to install a new lyx-1.5 than a Qt4 package? Sorry, but I don't buy this argument ;-). If the admin is willing to install LyX-1.5 he will also be willing to install also Qt4 which, you might have noticed is much more available and eaisier to install than LyX and all it's dependencies.

I have a strong feeling of "Deja Vu", everyone (from both sides) is just reusing the same arguments again and again and again...

Let's just drop the discussion now and continue to maintain qt3 up until it would not be possible anymore. Then there will be no choice to make. Because the real problem is that you (not personally Jose ;-) are not willing to take a firm decision and stick to it.
