Sorry I didn't get back about this sooner.

People have asked about the filecontents environment, too. IIRC, the reason
reLyX ignores things before the \documentclass command is that LyX never
outputs anything before the \documentclass command. Should we copy it after
the \documentclass command? But if you're allowed to do that, then why not
just move it to after the command in your file? Admittedly, that makes work
for you, but I guess I was concerned that there might be something that
appears before the \documentclas command which would be illegal if placed
afterwards.
