Package: lyx
Version: 1.0.3-2
Quite a strange problem using LyX 1.0.3 (lyx_1.0.3-2.deb from Debian potato,
to be exact). I couldn't find it mentioned in BUGS.lyx nor in the mailing
list archive, therefore I dare to report it here:
When I'm using LANG=de_DE, I'm able to enter umlauts in math text mode, e.g.
x^2>0 für alle x>0
The DVI preview is fine and I can save the file and find something like
\begin_inset Formula
\[
x^{2}>0\, \textrm{für alle}\, x>0\]
\end_inset
Now if I load this file, the umlaut (ü) suddenly disappears. If I save it
again, the umlaut is lost:
\begin_inset Formula
\[
x^{2}>0\, \textrm{fr alle}\, x>0\]
\end_inset
The strange thing is that, using exactly the same configuration but without
LANG nor LC_ALL, I'm not able to enter the umlauts in math text mode at all
(although umlauts in normal text still work).
Needless to say, I very much prefer the behavior for LANG=de_DE, if only
loading the file would preserve the umlauts.
Anyway, silently dropping the umlauts only at reloading the file seems to be
a quite important bug.
Or is this really a bug in the localized German version, and mathed in math
text mode shouldn't allow me at all to enter umlauts ?
Gregor
PS: For your reference, I include the original lyx file with the umlaut
saved within:
