I don't quite grasp the reasoning here. I assume you have fvwm2 set up
3xN.
What is your virtual screen size. I have a machine with a similar setup.
I have not had the kind of problem you describe for some time, and I
think it went away with an fvwm2 upgrade.

Check the versions on fvwm2 and the ChangeLogs.
