Indeed. CJK macro package is a variant of inputenc macro which
teaches TeX compiler how to read thousands of Kanji (Han) characters.
Since amsart consumes much more stacks than article, it is more
likely to make the compiler abort in the middle of the document.
In the Layout->Document panel, checking "Use AMS math" with the
article class is much safer, although you cannot use Theorem & co.
environments.
