There will be a main toolkit which will replace Xforms though, isn't it?
Instead of replacing Qt with my own toolkit I would prefer if LyX would use
a toolkit that already is suitable for Winxx. Someone who is involved with
the Cygwin development pointed out that V might be a good choice, since
there is already Cygwin support and it is available for "X Athena, X
Motif/Lesstif, all Windows platforms, and now includeing OS/2".
I will quote a blurb from their webpage (http://www.objectcentral.com). You
might want to take it into consideration, but the ultimate choice will of
course lie with the people who actually do the coding. Also, KDE compliance
may be more important than multi-platform portability. It would be great to
get rid of the X-server though.
"V is a free portable C++ GUI Framework intended to develop a wide variety
of applications on different graphical interface
platforms. It is very complete and suitable for a large majority of custom
GUI applications. Applications developed using V will
have the look and feel of the native platform, yet will be portable across
platforms. V is availble under the terms of the GNU
LIBRARY GENERAL PUBLIC LICENSE."
