I have an idea how to do this automagically.

Better yet: make the option default to "off" [or whatever] *after*
the user's ~/.lyx/ and ~/.lyx/lyxrc are written.

1) Making such a change would render Intro incongruous with its
description and use in the other manuals.

2) I suggested something like this in the old "HowDoI..." manual.
Nobody wanted to add anything to it, or even maintain the skeleton
I provided. So, I nuked it, since it served no purpose. No one
appears to have shed any tears over its demise.

3) "Inviting" and "Enticing" are good for advertisements. Not so
good for manuals; tends to produce drivel, not substance. OTOH, I
agree that the first section of Intro needs work. Given our new
PR-push, I'd like to put some polish on Intro. Gimme 1-2 weeks
[hey, I *do* have a day job] and I'll post something.
