This may indeed be a cost vs benefit consideration, but with expense and
affordability being the only subtractive factor, a UPS is otherwise a
prudent decision regardless, due to the fact that the batteries act as a
huge capacitor to smooth out any brownouts or spikes, the latter of
which can be particularly damaging to electronic devices - even
televisions, which often seem to suffer.
