yesterday i have followed those links and got lost in the iungle.
i'm a bit cautious, i don't want to mess up the touchpad.
The fujitsu S761 has a 2 pads
the normal mouse pad, and a little round pad that has scrollwheel
functionality when you draw circles on the round pad.

this is what it looks like
the lifebook in that link is a different one (doesn't have the
scroll-pad) but in the description it talks about 2-finger scroll
functionality (that's a different puppy alltogether)
Now it is not clear to me if it is safe to try the stuff in that post.
right now it works with the Synaptics driver.
in xinput i see this:
⎡ Virtual core pointer id=2 [master pointer (3)]
⎜ ↳ Virtual core XTEST pointer id=4 [slave pointer
(2)]
⎜ ↳ PS/2 Generic Mouse id=14 [slave pointer
(2)]
⎜ ↳ SynPS/2 Synaptics TouchPad
Hardinfo:
SynPS/2 Synaptics TouchPad
A google search tells me that many use the synaptics driver on ALPS
touchpads, but is there a way to see (in software)
if the actual hardware is ALPS or Synaptics. I guess it is ALPS,
allthough wherever i look in Ubuntu it says Synaptics... so is that
correct, or is this just messy.
so how safe is to install that ALPS stuff? Not sure if i have the skills
to go back to what i have right now if the ALPS option doesn't work.
Tomorrow I'll make sure i have a mouse as backup. And hope to have the
guts to try this.
BTW, where does the synaptics stuff live in Lubuntu?? is there a config
file or something?

looks like this never got fixed for the S761 any idea how i can try
this
on Lubuntu?
Seems like this function is not very populair, thought it would be
cool to
get this fixed.
