Default kernel of Lubuntu 16.04 is 4.4. If you are booting to 4.1, that might be the old 15.10 kernel...
I suppose you can delete the kernel files to "force" the 4.4 kernel to boot... This is only a guess,.. You might also be able to test if it works by changing the kernel filename...
