1. Segfault, yes, but with careful management, it can still create a [persistent] live USB drive. Many people would be happy, if this poor program will get some love, and get rid of the bugs.
2. A bug-free alternative is usb-creator-kde. I have tested it and found that it works without issues (only warning output to the terminal window, if started from that). I checked the size in a clean persistent live USB drive with Lubuntu 13.04 32-bit. With all the KDE packages, 384 MB more disk space will be used, so it could be recommended for people with a [fast] internet connection, but it cannot be included in a Lubuntu CD-size iso file.
