OSGeo-Live community,
Especially those who have experience with packaging,
I'm wondering whether you have advise for Activity Workshop re bringing
gpsprune up to a more recent version on OSGeo-Live.
Johan, maybe you can shed some insight?

I'm open to any suggestions but it sounds like the backporting to the
old Ubuntu is trickier than I'd hoped.

Hi,
The short answer is I don't know.
I wrote to the list in May asking for advice on this, because version
15.1 is now over 2 years old and a long way behind even Debian Stable.
Taking a later version of GpsPrune would be great if possible, but the
last I heard from the list, there were some tricky knock-on effects with
josm and jmapviewer. I offered to provide a tarball without any
dependencies on libmetadata-extractor, if that would make things
simpler, but I heard nothing back.
So, it's up to you.

Hi activityworkshop,
We have started our build cycle for OSGeo-Live 9.0, due to be released
at the end of August 2015, in time for FOSS4G 2015 in September.
We are interested to know which version of gpsprune should be
installed on OSGeo-Live 9.0?
Version 15.1 was installed on OSGeo-Live 8.5.
Note that our installer feature freeze is 21 July 2015.
Note also that we have switched to git from svn for this release.
Details here: http://wiki.osgeo.org/wiki/Live_GIS_Disc#Git_migration
Any questions, please ask. (Angelos is acting as build manager and
will have better technical answers than me).
Warm regards,
