May be a silly question, but is the CDROM's digital/analog sound cable

Does sound work for other cases (eg. playing a .wav file etc)?
AFAIK i810 sound is still not quite stable 2.2.16 (RH7.0?) or 2.4.[123].
It works for me on 2.4.4/5-pre1 though.
If you follow the LKML you might have seen messages about this floating
around.
