Maybe an extension suggesting this, explaining the situation and
asking for confirmation to do the change is a good thing.

Such an extension will have to be bound to bookmark access (can it be
done? I suppose so), otherwise any redirect (and there are tons of
legitimate redirects) will trigger it to lookup through all your
bookmarks for a match to update.
