I just installed this printer. I've used many Epson printers on my LINUX box and had only good results (stylus II, 670 and 580 all printed well).
In fact, the installation went much better than in the past. I had the printer running in under 5 minutes. But print quality is REALLY bad. And, in fact, several times the printer just stopped printing half way through the test page. Before buying the printer I Googled and found that this printer is supported and uses either the c40ux or c42ux drivers. I've tried both (and several other related models). Some of the drivers (for instance the c42ux) offered the choice of foomatic or gimp and I tried both of them. System details in my signature. If someone has this printer and can suggest what to do, I'd be grateful.
