unfortunately, the openbrick is fairly expensive - over $300 and it only 
comes with one nic on the lowest preiced model. I would be nice if they 
would start selling it cheaper. Thanks anyway!

yes- I did. I've seen the ones at lamir but thank you anyway. 
unfortunately, as you said they are overkill and he also
