We (Hadassah College - Computer Science) want to give
a course in "Computer Aided Software Engineering (CASE)"
and are looking for and open source solution instead of purchasing Rational ClearCase.
I would appreciate anybody's suggestions.
Josh Roden
Isn't clearcase simply a realy serious, mature and commercial CVS? cvs is preinstalled or available in practically any linux distro. http://www.cvshome.org/ for detailed information .
ClearCase is indeed a version-control system. I believe he meant Rational Rose.
Anyhow, about ArgoUML which was mentioned earlier -- I used it for a while (more precisely *tried* to use it for a while), and was not very impressed. It has matured a bit since the time I tried it, but it still is quite sluggish and is still not as stable as needed should be with serious documents.
This list is probably not the best place to mention this, but if you have MS developer tools licenses you might have the very simple MS Visual Modeler which I guess can be used for teaching.
Also -- perhaps Dia has UML designing capabilities? might be worth to check that.
Alon.
