There was a bit of wi-fi discussion on this list recently, and it made me want to go wireless myself.
I searched the various hardware vendors online, but all I seem to find are D-Link DWL-650+ cards, which seem to be the only reasonably-priced 802.11b cards imported to Israel. But those cards are based on TI chipset, for which exists a problematic (and unsupported) binary driver, and a non-mature, reversed-enginereed open source driver. As I don't wish to buy a card just to find out I can't really use it, can any of you recommend a supported (I'm willing to use binary drivers, if no other alternative exists) 802.11b cardbus/PCMCIA card, along with a local vendor that sells it? Is it legal to mail-order such a card from abroad? (I know that one can't import 900MHz phones, for example. But since there are some 802.11b devices being imported legally, I wonder if that opens the door for all devices sharing that frequency). -- Shay ================================================================= To unsubscribe, send mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the word "unsubscribe" in the message body, e.g., run the command echo unsubscribe | mail [EMAIL PROTECTED]
