Muli, you are talking from a kernel programmer point of view. I am talking
about a user point of view.
So what? I have to stay behind because I use a "non standard h/w"? Or should I
"upgrade" my h/w? That sux ass. Yes today is more likely to find support for
our exotic h/w, but still not all h/w is supported.

To Gilboa:
you will be surprised but the modem (normal analog modem, not digital for
adsl), is almost unsorted any more. The developer of the driver (works in
Intel) said that the version I have, which was released in he age of 2.4.12
compiled flawlessly in 2.4.20 I have in mdk, but this was the last version of
this driver to be released (binaries to iglu soon).
There are ess modem drivers to 2.2, and for that reason people did not upgrade
their kernel.

Hell, I know people which have XP and ME because of this shitty situation.I am
not talking about two different kernel's, but two different os'es just to use
the scanner!

I am just mumbling now... I"ll stop that now.
