..Or modify ~/.kde/share/config/kxkbrc to suit your needs (you probably want 
to change the Layout line to: Layout=us,il and the Options line to whatever 
you use to change the group). This will change the configuration kde does to 
xkb when you log in (and that is why until your user logs in everything works 
for you).
