The original name was simply 'GNU' (the GNU OS). GNU is even shorter than
linux, but I have a feeling that people won't know what you're talking
about ("what's ganu?" "you know, that OS, that everybody call Linux").

Anyway, IGLU can be read as 'Israeli GNU/Linux Users' or 'Isreali Group of
Linux Users' . It was renamed from ILUG two or three years ago.
