Hi all.
I have this annoying problem with printing on okipage 14ex printer via samba.
This is the storry:

The printer is installed on a windows98 computer and is shared over the LAN.
while there is no problem with printing on this printer from other windows
computers, I couldn't succeed to print from redhat 7.3 linux.
I'm using the LPRng printing system, and I've tried tree drivers:
 - ljet4
the ouput test page is splitted in two, and is very "noisy" i.e it looks
like I'm printing with exhausted toner cartige , and lots of unneeded blank
lines are inserted, which results with splitted page.

- lj5gray and pxlmono
when printing (anything), the an error output is printed on the
sheet.

When connecting the printer to Linux machine directly, the output is OK (using
ljet4. I've tried to ask OKIdata support service. They have told me to
contact them on phone, since the problem was too complicated. I couldn't call
them in US, so I decided to call the local OKI representative (SHER
electronics ltd). Since the guy I was talking to didn't know what linux is
(he asked me: "This linus of yours: does it work on DOS or windows?"), the
problem still persists.
There is a forum dedicated to OKI printers on linuxprinting.org, but it has
near zero traffic, and I haven't receved anu answers from there.

Does anyone have an idea how this problem can be solved? (we prefer that the
printer remains connected to win computer).

Thanks

PS [1] I thought that the windows machine tried to apply the driver to the
info it gets from linux, resulting in disturbed output, so I tried to
configure the printer on linux as "no driver (post script)", but the result
was lots of pages with some strange characters on them.

PS [2] This is the error output that I get when using lj5gray and pxlmono
drievrs:
--------------- START OF OUTPUT ----------------
PCL XL error

     Subsystem: KERNEL
     Error: IllegalAttribute
     Operator: ReadImage
     Position: 16
------------- END OF OUTPUT -------------
the ouput is always the same.

Thanks again
