1. What does the preceding if clause check? 2. Running the commands manually in order to identify where exactly it does hang? 3. strace the offending command? 4. When you say the machine hang, what does it mean? More specifically, can you remote login with another machine? Can you post /etc/init.d/usb? I don't have neither usb nor this script.
