it's uploading some .bin file into the modem, resets the modem, and then uses PPP 
kernel modules (with HDLC) to connect with the user/pass and vpi, vci (8,48).

No no, it's those cheap-o modem, a.k.a Win ADSL modem - totally dumb thing;)

The dialers, config, bin files that the modem needs.
