Hi,
Seems you have VIA 686a (or 686b) sound chip on your motherboard..
This chip is something like Ensonique 1371/3 - means it's a pretty
stupid sound chip - the MIDI interface there is horrible though...
What you'll need, Erez, is to use the ALSA drivers for this chipset. The
OSS sound drivers which comes with the kernel are simply bad cause they
use the Sound Blaster Pro emulation which the chip gives (and the sound
with this emulation is horrible! 22Khz with 8 bit sound).
So goto http://www.alsa-project.org and download their driver, utils and
libs, and READ the instructions how to use it and how to put it on your
/etc/modules.conf (or conf.modules - depends which distribution do you use).
