I have a probelm with modprobe:
When I try to run modprobe I get:

$ modprobe <parameters>
conf:1: missing argument
-----
where <parameters> ca be "--help", "<module name>" or whatever.
The only exception seems to be:
-----
$ modprobe
-----
(with no parameters), which gives the help string:
-----
Usage: modprobe [-a] [ -t TYPE ] MODULE [opt=val ...] ...
modprobe -c
..
-----
I use RH 5.2 (kenrel 2.0.36-3). /sbin/modprobe belongs to the package
modutils-2.1.85-9 .
any idea as for what I'm missing here?
