Advisory: Lexington New Traffic Pattern on Route 2A (Marrett Road) New traffic pattern begins on Thursday, November 20, at 3:00 p.m., and will continue until further notice as project advances LEXINGTON – The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) is announcing new traffic patterns will be in place on Route 2A (Marrett Road) over I-95 (Route 128) in Lexington, beginning Thursday, November 20 at 3:00 p.m. and will remain in place until further notice as the project continues. The traffic shift will allow crews to initiate Phase 5 work that includes the construction of three ramp re-configurations and the completion of the two roundabout centers located at both ends of the bridge. The new pattern will be in place as follows: 1. Route 2A eastbound traffic seeking to access I-95 (Route 128) southbound will be directed over the bridge utilizing the newly constructed easterly roundabout, reverse direction, and access I-95 southbound from Route 2A westbound. The existing on-ramp from Route 2A eastbound to I-95 southbound will be closed for construction phasing. 1. There will be no changes to access from Route 2A eastbound to I-95 (Route 128) northbound. 1. Route 2A westbound traffic will be maintained on the northerly half of the new bridge with access to both I-95 (Route 128) northbound and southbound in the current alignment. Pedestrian access across the bridge will be maintained at all times. This work is part of a $26.1 million project for the Bridge Replacement and Related Work (Including Signals and Roundabout Construction) Bridge No. L-10-010 (Steel) Route 2A (Marrett Road) over I-95. Drivers traveling through the affected area should expect delays, reduce speed, and use caution. Appropriate signage, law enforcement details, and messaging will be in place to guide drivers through the work area. All scheduled work is weather dependent and/or may be impacted due to an emergency. For more information on traffic conditions, travelers are encouraged to: 1.
