Are you aware that ICE has resumed using Hanscom airport to fly detainees
to other states, often after they have been processed at the Burlington ICE
Field Office (at 1000 District Avenue just behind the Burlington Mall)?
(see: https://www.wbur.org/news/2025/09/15/ice-flights-hanscom-airport)

ICE flights from Hanscom were briefly paused over the summer and moved to
Portsmouth International Airport at Pease. However, local residents played
a decisive role in halting those flights (see:
https://indepthnh.org/2025/08/19/pda-board-urged-to-do-something-about-ice-flights-at-portsmouth-airport/
).

*Concerned residents have the opportunity to speak against ICE operations
at Hanscom airport at MassPort Board's monthly meeting on Thursday, October
16, at 9 AM. *MassPort is the governing authority for Hanscom Airfield,
where ICE has been loading people they've arrested in the New England area.

To date, MassPort has maintained that it does not have the authority to
prevent ICE from using its facilities. However, there are ongoing efforts
to encourage a more active position by emphasizing that there is a moral
imperative here. ICE is detaining individuals—sometimes without due
process—and not always providing families or advocates with information
about their location or the charges against them. Additionally, some
detainees are held far from home in poor conditions.

The entire meeting will be held via Zoom, making participation relatively
easy. *Interested residents would need to register at
**https://www.massport.com/our-business/board-meetings/pre-registration-form
<https://www.massport.com/our-business/board-meetings/pre-registration-form>
by noon on 10/15 to make a comment during the Public Comment period, sign
into the meeting, and prepare remarks of under three minutes.*

This initiative is coming from https://groundice.org/ The committee is
working to petition MassPort, creating visibility events, and encouraging
pilots to boycott Signature Aviation, which fuels planes with ICE
contracts, etc.

encourages members of the community to take a stand.
