Of course you are correct-acronyms and typos are par for the course-prone weaknesses of mine. Over 35 year in public office, and years before as a public health and planning academic who dwelt in a world of acronyms has left me prone to the weakness you have cited. (The typos are a whole other story)
HATS=Hanscom Area Town Selectmen (the committee and name created in the 70s). HATS is made up of Concord, Lexington, Lincoln and Bedford. HFAC=Hanscom Field Advisory Committee. HFAC is charged with matters relating to the airfield/airport and Massport. Unlike HFAC, HATS dealt with/deals with matters beyond the airport. Its portfolio includes the airfield, but much more. HAFB=Hanscom Air Force Base. HATS has a relationship with HAFB and played a critical role in ensuring the Base was insulted from closure in the last round of Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC). I believe much of this explanation is published in the town Annual Report which I encourage all to read-a great primer on the town and its workings. In the future, I encourage any reader curious about either my notorious typos and/or use of acronyms, or matters Lincoln civic life (45 years in the trenches here, with the scars to show for it), please feel free to reach out publicly or privately. We can all learn from each other. Be kind, be tolerant, be forgiving. We are all in this together. > On Sep 12, 2025, at 12:07 PM, Anne Warner <[email protected]> wrote: > > Maybe Hanscom Area Town Selects rather than Hanscom ARE Town Selects?
