Hi All- My mother is a social worker who volunteers for Waltham -Newton family Access Program. They work with low income families that have children under 4 years . Most of the families are recent immigrants. Many of them are terrified to leave their homes now because ICE has made more than 30 arrests in Newton and many more in Waltham. The goal of the program is to help the moms prepare the children for school by visiting 2x a week and giving them age appropriate books and toys and teaching the moms how to play with them and engage them with books. The families are now faced with having many more basic needs as parents are losing their jobs or afraid to go out to work.
My mom has two families giving birth soon who are looking for baby items. Here are some of what they need: crib, baby swing, infant seat, infant stroller or toddler/infant stroller (as she has a large 2 year old) bottle warmer/ sterilizer, winter clothing/jackets for the first 6 months for a baby girl. If your family has finished with any of these items and is looking to donated them, they would be welcomed. My mom is cc'ed here should you have questions. I live in Lincoln and can pick items up. Thank you. -Lisa
