Cricut Certification: Mini Paper Plants

For this fun Cricut certification, we will cut and make mini paper plants! You can choose from a few options and colors to customize them. The Cricut Maker can cut, draw, perforate, and score. Cricut machines are easy to use, and you are only limited by your imagination! Upon completion of this class, students will be permitted to use the AIC Cricut Makers during open maker hours.

Paper Succulent Workshop

Black thumb? These plants will never need watering! Join us at the AIC to make a gorgeous paper succulent garden. You’ll get a demonstration of the Cricut Maker at work as you craft and assemble your succulent arrangment. We’ll provide the supplies and the know-how, just bring yourself and your friends!

Wine & Flowers: From Around the World

Thurs, Mar 13

This month we will escape the New England winter and focus on delicious wines and vibrant colorful florals from from around the world. Let your creativity flow and make your own floral arrangement featuring some beautiful exotic blooms while Weston’s own Rachel Lee of Moon Rabbit Flowers shares tips on floral arranging and how to make your cut flowers last longer. The owner and founder of Decanted Wine Truck and Mobile Bar, Julia Walderzak, will greet you with a wine welcome cocktail and lead you through a tasting of four two ounce wines. There will also be a delectable grazing board for you to nosh on while you sip and design. All materials are included. Each attendee will leave with tasting notes and a floral arrangement in a vase. Registration closes March 10.

Family Drop-In: Leprechaun Trap

Did you know that on the night before St. Patrick’s Day, leprechauns get up to all sorts of mischief? A leprechaun trap is used to catch them in the act! Set out your trap and see in the morning whether a leprechaun visited. Sometimes escaped leprechauns leave behind a treasure! All ages are welcome. Children under 13 must be accompanied by an adult. No registration needed. $10 at the door. Learn more here

 

Printmaking: Gelli Plates

Come explore monoprinting on a gelli or gelatin plate with instructor Kathy Aluia. Monoprinting on gelli plates is so much fun! Create unique and beautiful prints with acrylic paints and a wide variety of paper. Students will experiment with multiple techniques; resists, stencils, textures, inks, grease crayons and transfers. Frame your prints as is or use them for collage, unique cards or scrapbooking. Registration closes Mar 12.

Visible Mending for Clothing: Sashiko Workshop

Thurs, Mar 20
10am-12:30pm



Join visible mender, Mariko Sugimori to learn about the history of Sashiko, a technique to reinforce worn fabric and/or repair textiles, and work on some Sashiko samplers. All the materials will be provided, but attendees can also bring in woven (not stretchy) clothing they would like to practice this technique on. This class is recommended for individuals with some hand-sewing experience. Registration closes Mar 17.

Print and Sew: Apron

Two Thursdays, Mar 20 & 27
10am-2pm



 

Join us to make your own custom block-printed apron.  During this short series, you will cut and sew your apron, design, make, and print your apron using your custom blocks and textile ink.  Several fabric colors will be available. You will go home with your completed apron, custom stamps, and detailed instructions.

Fundamentals of Machine Sewing (or the ability to thread a sewing machine and wind a bobbin) is a pre-requisite. Registration closes Mar 17.

Laser Cut Certification: Felt Trivet & Coasters

In this special laser cutter certification, you will learn all the essential safety and operational instructions about the laser cutter. You will also get a chance to cut a large trivet and a set of coasters from recycled felt.
Prerequisite: Must be 16 or older to be certified on the laser cutter.

Cricut Certification: Customized Tote Bag

For this fun Cricut certification, we will cut iron-on vinyl and use it to customize a tote bag all your own! The Cricut Maker can cut, draw, perforate, and score. What's It Worth? Bonhams Skinner Appraisal Event

Please join us for a fun and informative evening with Kerry Shrives of Bonhams Skinner. Whether it is your most treasured heirloom or something that has been gathering dust in your attic or garage, bring it in and Kerry will tell us about it and what it is worth!  We ask that each ticket holder try to bring one thing to be appraised, so that we have plenty of items for Kerry to discuss.

Drop-In: Coffee & Crafts

Drop in and join other makers in the Loft to make crafts and enjoy a cup of coffee or tea! Bring your own project and enjoy some time with other crafters and creatives. Supplies and instruction will not be provided. Coffee and tea will be offered! No registration required. 
 

Wire Wrapped Earrings

10am-12:30pm



 

Learn to make a simple pair of elegant sterling silver drop earrings using wire wrapping techniques. Students will have a variety of beads and other materials to choose from in creating their unique drop earring design(s). Students will learn the purpose and application of tools such as round and needle-nose pliers and understand the basic differences amongst wire gauges and styles. Registration closes Mar 26.

The Spellman Museum of Stamps and Postal History, located on the Regis College campus, is holding their 2nd Annual Postcard Show on Sunday. This fun-filled event showcases a wide array of unique and vintage postcards from around the world. Celtic Bells

In honor of St. Patrick's Day, come listen to the story of Irish immigrants in Boston. Celtic Bells weaves in songs and poems of work, humor, protest, longing for home, and longing to feel at home in America. Enjoy the lively music of the fiddle, bodhran (Irish drum), banjo, flute, guitar, and bagpipes. This event is free for all ages! Learn more here.
