Coming Up at the AIC (and beyond)
Drop by the AIC this morning for Coffee & Crafts- bring your own project from
home to work on and we'll provide the coffee and tea. A late addition to the
Feb calendar- a Stamp Making Workshop (both morning and evening sessions
offered) led by artist/instructor Carol Ryan where students will learn how to
carve and print a stamp by hand. Beyond the AIC, head to Downtown Boston for
Winteractive featuring 15 public artworks or closer to home, take your favorite
fairies, elves and gnomes to Lincoln's Enchanted Forest. For all this and more,

Kumihimo Techniques: Friendship Bracelets

Join us to learn Kumihimo, a traditional Japanese weaving technique created on
a disc. In this class, you will experiment with 8-cord patterns using cording
in various colors. You will go home with your finished 8-cord bracelets, a
custom Kumihimo disc (laser cut at the AIC), and clear step-by-step
instructions. Other Kumihimo disks and bobbins will be available to be used
independently during Open Maker Hours

Cricut: Valentine's Day Cards

Using 3 different colors of paper and one simple shape, students will use the
Cricut machine to take one basic shape and turn it into 9 cards. The use of the
shape, copy, duplicate, and attach functions will be covered. Students will
explore using the negative spaces to further the design. Registration closes
Feb 4.

Family Drop-In: Slime Lab

Why make a mess at home? Come to the AIC and create your own custom slime! We
have all the supplies you’ll need to become slime scientists. Choose your own
color, add-ins, and create your own perfect slime. All ages are welcome.
Children under 13 must be accompanied by an adult. No registration needed.

Teen Open Mic Night

Printmaking: Stamp Making Workshop

During this rubber stamp workshop with instructor and artist, Carol Ryan,
students will learn how to carve a stamp and print by hand. This printmaking
process is easy and fun and you’ll leave with some beautiful prints!

Laser Cutter Certification: 3D Puzzles

Did you know that you can cut 3D puzzles on a laser cutter?
In this class, you will learn how to safely operate a laser cutter to cut
plywood. You will be introduced to Lightburn software and create two “puzzles”
to bring home with you. This introductory course on laser cutting is great for
beginners as well as those who have completed certification but are looking for
a little practice.

Come explore monoprinting on a gelli or gelatin plate with instructor Kathy
Aluia. Monoprinting on gelli plates is so much fun! Create unique and beautiful
prints with acrylic paints and a wide variety of paper. Students will
experiment with multiple techniques; resists, stencils, textures, inks, grease
crayons and transfers. Registration closes Feb 12.

It’s school vacation week(!), which means you can come craft with us at the
AIC! For this crafternoon, we will have stations set up with a variety of
crafts. Think yarn crafts, rainbow loom bracelets, pipe cleaner creatures, and
more! All ages are welcome. Children under 13 must be accompanied by an adult.
No registration required. Cost: $10 at the door.
Needle Felted Snowy Owl

To celebrate the winter solstice, we will create a beautiful snowy owl. Needle
felting is relaxing and easy to learn and many find it addictive. This class is
suitable for beginners as well as those with some previous needle felting
experience. All materials will be supplied at a cost of $25 to be paid directly

Step into the Enchanted Forest with your fantastical finery on Sat, Feb 1, from
1-3pm. For one day only, a dazzling magical grove has appeared at Lincoln
Station, complete with ice sculptures, hot cocoa, fairy houses, twinkling
lights,and a scavenger hunt for young protectors of Lincoln's enchanted forest
