Town Awarded Multiple Grants

We are pleased to announce that the Town received notice this week that it has 
been awarded three separate grants:


  1.  $430,000 under the MBTA Community Catalyst Fund
The Water Department applied for and has been awarded $430,000 to support the 
Bedford Road/Lincoln Road Water Main Replacement Project that will be underway 
later this year under the supervision of the Water Department.  The grant was 
awarded by the Massachusetts Executive Office of Housing & Livable Communities 
(EOHLC).  Catalyst Fund grants are available only to cities and towns that have 
complied with the MBTA Communities Act.


  1.  $232,000 under the Complete Streets Program
The Planning Department applied for an has been awarded $232,000 under the 
Massachusetts Department of Transportation's Complete Streets Program.  The 
funds will be used to install a new crosswalk at the intersection of Route 
117/Old Sudbury Road, a project that is listed as a high priority on the Town's 
Complete Streets Priority Plan, the BPAC Master Plan, and the Towns's 5-Year 
Transportation Improvement Plan.  When constructed, the new crosswalk will 
provide a safe way for pedestrians and cyclists to cross Route 117 in the 
vicinity of the railroad crossing and connect to the roadside path and trail 
system located on the north side of Route 117.  The Town has thus far received 
a total of $ 1.2 million under the Complete Streets Program.


  1.  $15,000 under the Firefighter Safety Equipment Program
The Fire Department applied for and has been awarded $15,000 by the Executive 
Office of Public Safety (EOPS) to replace radio, water rescue, and firefighter 
safety equipment.
