For many months, we have heard middle-of-the-night rumbling noises that appear
to emanate from the gas pipeline work site on the north side of Route 2, just
east of Tracey's corner. Stephanie's description is similar to how I would
describe these noises.

Crews regularly do night work at that site, although I would be surprised if
they were doing it in single-digit-temperature weather. I would also be
surprised if those noises carried as far as the Weston/Wayland town line,
whereas Grasshopper Lane, Trapelo Road, and Sandy Pond Road seem more in the
potential range.

We don't hear this every night and did not hear it on the night reported, but
we find it caries considerably, perhaps depending on the specific work activity
on any night, the wind direction, other ambient noise (inside or outside our
home). And, as with Stephanie, we usually sleep through it but hear it when
awake. Perhaps someone living on Juniper Ridge could chime in--they are
immediately adjacent to the site and I have frequently though must be regularly
disturbed by this ongoing middle-of-the-night work noise.
