Wonderful to read Lincoln Talk messages this morning concerning knitting. These messages resonated as last year I read a delightful non-fiction book by Clara Parkes called *Vanishing Fleece: Adventures in American Wool*. I am not a knitter though the story which unfolds about the process of wool becoming yarn and eventually a sweater Clara makes and the sheep, shepherds, and surviving independent businesses with whom she closely collaborates & who are keeping traditional wool and yarn skills and traditions alive was riveting. Honestly, this is a book I wholeheartedly recommend whether you are setting out to knit a sweater for the first time or the 10th time or even if you are a knitter. It's a jolly good read that it is informative, engaging, honest, entertaining, and all around wonderful. Clara Parkes, who I believe resides in Hancock County, Maine, also shares lovely thoughts, images, and reflections in messages you may opt to receive in your email inbox from her author website; her posts on Instagram are lovely too. Happy snowy Sunday!
