We have both Brother (b/w) and HP (color) laser printers in our house, both perhaps 5 years old. The Brother printer is not very convenient for printing envelopes, but at least it does them. I have never (never) been able to get the HP printer to print single envelopes, despite following the user manual instructions to the letter.
Also, we have refrained from doing software updates for the HP because that supposedly would trigger their lock-down system for preventing us from using non-HP printer cartridges. Maybe HP has gotten better and nicer to users.
