Thanks Anne. I should also have mentioned that the keys on this Steinway are
all ivory, including the fronts.

Kind regards,
Rainer

Subject: Re: [LincolnTalk] Steinway piano free to a good home

As the daughter of a harpsichord maker, I have some experience with different
types of keyboards and their value. Steinway pianos were at their zenith,
technically, between roughly 1900 and 1910. I have an upright that was built
in 1906, and it has only had to be tuned once in the ten years I've owned it,
and has marvelous sound. Of course, I don't know anything about the specific
piano that Rainer is offering, but if it is in decent shape, this would be a
great instrument to own and play.

We are offering for free an upright Steinway piano that was built in 1902. It
plays and is tunable. In the short run, in order to hold tuning well, it would
need a process called “doping the block” that costs around $300.
To restore it to its original condition would cost ~$4-6,000.
To move it out of the house will require a rigging crane, so the move to your
house would cost ~$1400. (Price from Mike Griffen, a great piano mover.)
Any serious inquiries need to be received by March 15.
Kind regards,
Rainer
