How we all looked forward to early winter after the first ice had formed in December to take full advantage of the few weeks before serious snowfall. This weekend, after the rain and warm weather followed by a hard freeze, should set up a spectacular week or 10 days of perfect ice for all to enjoy! Among a book full of memories since the 1950s, prominent are those having to do with shoveling snow off the ice after school, with luck in time to enjoy a game of hockey between goals marked by boots before it got so dark we couldn’t find the errant pucks in the bushes. I hope the young of all ages will take advantage of our outdoor ice to create their own lifelong memories of Lincoln in winter!
