Dear Lincoln Community,
We are hosting an Afghan refugee family, who has settled in with us in Lincoln and will stay for the next few weeks. We appreciate the generous and supportive nature of the Lincoln community, and are now asking if you can help get this family on their feet. In particular, the family is in need of donations of items for the adult couple, two year old daughter, and expected newborn twins, including the following: - Winter clothes for mom, dad, and 2.5 year old girl (parents are about average height/weight, roughly size US M / L) - Infant car seat - Chicco Keyfit 30 - Lightweight toddler car seat - Double stroller - Umbrella stroller - Pack n play - Swaddle blankets - Newborn supplies - e.g. diapers, wipes, etc. - Pressure cooker - Juicer - Tea kettle - Kitchen goods particularly dishware and silverware We have also started a fundraiser to support the family; please feel free to contact me for the link if you'd like to contribute financially. A little more background: The family has been forced to flee their home country as they were under threat from the Taliban for their role in community building efforts. The family includes a mother, father, toddler daughter, and they are expecting twins soon. They are here legally. This is the most warm, engaging family who has worked their way into our hearts with their kindness, generosity and care for everyone around them. They are so grateful for the opportunity to be here, to live safely and freely, to contribute, and to provide opportunities for their family and especially their young daughter.
