Here is an updated report, with new info, from a trusted tech friend:
"NEST Protect Alarms (Smoke/CO) talk to each other via wifi and can be accessed 
via the web and when one triggers all announce in with a clear and loud  voice 
where the problem is located.”

This system proved itself to a local family last fall.
