I missed the - (as in -\tweak) that’s why I switched to \override. Your solution is better. Reading the docs a bit more, I would suggest to use \melisma … \melismaEnd inside \[ and \]. This saves you from using _ in the lyrics all the time. I don’t know why \[ and \] are not producing melismas automatically – I thought that’s the idea behind such a combined neume.
