This is a nice idea!  However, I consider it a bug in ghostscript that
you can't suppress subsetting for the Emmentaler fonts.  Can you send
a bug report to the gs people?

After a first look at the gs code I filed a bugreport: http://bugs.ghostscript.com/show_bug.cgi?id=695728

And I think the comments to that are quite interesting. AFAICT (which isn't very authoritative in that case) it looks as if we should open a bug report on LilyPond here?

For truetype fonts there is a similar problem: http://bugs.ghostscript.com/show_bug.cgi?id=689236. Reported 2007-05-16, status In_Progress, last comment more than 2 years ago.
