Hello, I think it's related to the python command: could you try to run it using the complete path of the python command installed by macports? (something like /opt/local/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.7/bin/python2.7 )
I think Derek's problem was caused by using the python command shipped with OS X.
