I'm looking for something like this, where the "-------" are the three
lines of my percussive staff:

*e.  ------------  *
*m. ------------*
*c.  ------------*

This is quite common in percussive notation, that's why I find it odd I
can't seem to find a way of doing this. Should be very simple, I'd think.

And about the rest you are somewhat right Phil, but I think adding the
horizontal line on top of the rest enhances the clearity and readability:
in that way it cannot be mistaken by a half rest where the rectangle lies
on top of a horizonal line (instead of hanging from it).
