that sounds great!

so i should be able to use something like

-dfont-config-add-directory "drive:\bla\bla\fonts Gonville\"
or
#(set-options 'font-config-add-directory "drive:\bla\bla\fonts Gonville\") ?

(i am not very familiar how to use these options/settings and have no time
to test right now)  if that'd work all the above discussion is obsolete!
