Dear Eluze, Thank you very much for that, it looks like just what I need. The link didn't work, but knowing the title I was able to Google it. I'll need to play around with it a bit - it's going to take a while to understand what's going on. It will be interesting to see if it works in this example where there is more than one tie at a time. That potentially answers half my question. I wonder if anyone knows how to alter the curve of the ties in this situation.
