It is quite clear that Alkan is far less well known than Grieg. And probably not without reason. But Alkan did write a lot of music. For example a lot of technically very demanding piano music.

And among all that music there are without doubt at least some pieces worth publishing, playing, and/or listening to. It is always nice to discover nice music I did not hear before. It does not make those well-known masterpieces by Grieg (and others) disappear. SO what's the problem ?
